Liturgy — Coming to Worship

Published on 10 October 2026 at 12:52

Our reflections now turn towards how we, as Church, come before God in the way that Christ has given us. In Liturgy — Coming to Worship, we enter the place where faith becomes response — where the Word is heard, prayed, proclaimed, sung, and lived. Drawn by Christ’s invitation and sustained by His presence, we ponder again how to stand before God as His people. “Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Seven themes will accompany our reflections on liturgy.

1. Spirituality: True and Proven

A glimpse into the steady, time‑tested practices that anchor Christian life and shape the heart for worship.

2. Reading and Praying the Word of God

A reminder that Scripture becomes living nourishment when we listen with the heart and let the Word shape our prayer.

3. Proclaiming the Word of God

A brief look at how hearing the Gospel naturally leads to sharing it with clarity, joy, and confidence.

4. Sing to the Lord a New Song

A glimpse of worship expressed in music — the Church lifting its voice in praise that renews and unites.

5. Jesus the Bridegroom Awaits His Bride

A moment to contemplate the Church’s deepest identity: called into communion, fidelity, and hope with Christ.

6. Doing Liturgy Correctly Supports Faith and Good Works

A reminder that careful, reverent liturgy strengthens belief and sends us out to live the Gospel in daily life.

7. Jesus Says: Come to Me

A simple invitation at the heart of worship — Christ calling us to rest, healing, and renewed life in Him.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of your love. Renew your Church, strengthen our witness, and guide us in all we do. May your light lead us, your peace hold us, and your love send us forth to serve. Amen.
