CATHOLIC ENQUIRY CONNECT

Helping seekers find welcome, faith, and community

A parish welcome that helps people take their next step in faith

CEC is inviting parish communities to take part in a ministry of welcome and evangelisation. This invitation is especially fitting as the Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord.

Connectors

CEC is seeking trusted parishioners who can be referred to enquirers as welcoming parish contacts. These “Connectors” greet newcomers, help them feel at home at Mass, introduce them to others in the parish, and support their next steps in faith. They may also help enquirers receive CEC’s What Catholics Believe booklets and feel more connected in parish life.

Champions

CEC is also looking for parishioners who can support this work behind the scenes. These “Champions” help keep CEC visible in parish life by displaying posters, including notices in the bulletin, and making sure What Catholics Believe booklets are available.

Support for Connectors and Champions

  • receive CEC newsletters with stories, updates, and resources
  • join regular CEC Zoom gatherings
  • build connections with others who care about evangelisation and accompaniment
  • grow through shared learning, encouragement, and practical formation

Catholic Enquiry Connect is part of a wider mission of welcome, accompaniment, and evangelisation in the life of the Church.

The Ascension and CEC’s mission

This post is being shared as the Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord. That timing is fitting because the Ascension sends the disciples out as witnesses and promises them the Holy Spirit. In the same way, CEC calls us to notice those who are searching, welcome them warmly, and trust that God is already at work in their hearts.

The Ascension also reminds us that Christ reigns and continues to guide his Church. So evangelisation is not ours alone: CEC’s work of welcome, accompaniment, and invitation rests on the confidence that Jesus goes before us and draws people to himself.

In the Gospel, Jesus says, “Go and make disciples.” That mission begins in simple, human ways: greeting newcomers, listening well, answering questions, and helping people take their next step in faith. The promise “I am with you always” sustains every Connector, Champion, and parish volunteer in this work.

Why are you Galileans standing here looking into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you saw him go back into heaven. (Acts 1: 11)
